Suse is borked generally. I needed these fixes:

http://cr.opensolaris.org/~johnlev/suse-pv-support/

Note lines 548-9 in particular.

This still doesn't do it for SLES10, since that not only forgets to mark
the boot partition as active, it also doesn't ship a grub.conf. Suse
11.1 works after this though.
