It's YAML. YAML's datastructures are pretty well defined (at least in
the terms of yaml they are).

That makes sense, now. I haven't seen anything before now stating that
the settings file is YAML. Maybe it should be commented at the top of
the file and noted in the Wiki?
Totally fair, comments have been added to the config file.
