Is it not safe to assume that all xen installs will need this? In which case there's no need for any extra config switches, just check for the "--virt" switch. If users are using virt-manager to manage their xen instances then this is a big win in terms of usability and I don't think there's any overhead for those who don't. I could be wrong.
