There is a path to successful builds that I've confirmed with mockbuilds. I've made the necessary requests to help co-maintain these packages. Since the issue hasn't gotten traction anyway I wouldn't expect a response from the current maintainer so it will be a few weeks before I can get builds into epel-testing once I'm able to petition releng to be added as a maintainer per packing guidelines.
