Also this will mean trading in one problem for another, as copy-ing
install.img to the HD is not without problems itself.

What problems does it cause?


I was thinking along the lines of problems with running out of diskspace, but
now that we've fixed the copy install.img to harddisk code to not
always put it in /boot (iow the FS with the least free space). This should not
really be a problem. Your patch also has the advantage it makes the single dvd
vs multiple cd install paths identical, so ack.
