Alternatively, is there a way to extract such a list in printable
form from the cds without going through an install ?
Run this command in the directory on the install CD where the RPM files
are kept (/Packages for Fedora, /CentOS for CentOS, Not sure on RHEL...)
rpm --queryformat "%{name} -> %{summary}\n" -qp *.rpm
That will give you a list of all of the packages, and their summary.
Thanks, Eric. Will run this tonight and am sure it will give me a much
better idea of all the good stuff I got with the release (CentOS 5.3).
