Patches in this area always make me nervous, but I'll tentatively agree
to it.  It's easy enough to back things out later.

This might have the added benefit that if the CD image is available through some other means, httpfs or iscsi are specifically what I'm thinking, it might be able to find the image and use it from there as well.

Just my $0.02 since I've been playing around in these areas lately.
