A bit off-topic for the anaconda list, but a quick google on "make initrd" turned up http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.3-Manual/custom-guide/s1-custom-kernel-initrd.html.  If you have 2.6.9-78.0.13.EL installed, even if it is not your running kernel, you should be able to build an initrd for it using mkinitrd.
