Have you tried running under strace:
strace -f -t /tmp/anaconda-trace ...
You might want to consider "-e" to limit the size of the trace.

While the trace was running, I wondered what the links would like
upon failure, IE, how many packages in the main tree had a link count
greater-than one. It hit me like a thunderbolt! You can't hard link a
directory. So I took a look in the SRPMS directory. Sure enough, there
was a repodata directory. I removed it and all was well.
