Fedora Core 5 /i386 installation to usb HD

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Dear all;

When I tried to install openSUSE Linux 10.1 alpha 4 last month, I could installed it to a partition at my usb HD. It was done by once stopping the installation (at the bottom line) and re-start the installation program (then it recognized the usb driver). So, my question is, is there any analogue system available for current or future Fedora Core / anaconda?

Unfortunately, the GRUB program supported by openSUSE Linux 10.1 (menu.lst) and Fedora Core 5 (grub.conf) is different and they seem to me not compatible. However, I could boot the vmlinuz inside the usb hd linux partition /dev/sda5 from the installation CD of openSUSE (after once stopping it).

Moreover, native support for usb hd booting is supported at the latest version of Phoenix BIOS, which is not available for my labtop PC (NEC LaVieC LC5005D).

Best,

Makoto Sakurai
