I can't even install FC4 on any computer, using an NFS install, just after
it mounts the 3rd CD, it reboots itself. And so one seems to have any
knowledge of this. So there's probably a lot of other bugs that go
unnoticed.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the info.
I think the hardware is fine and I don't think it is a driver issue.
The system has been running FC3 for about a year 24/7 and Fc2 and RH9
before that. I have seen on various mail-lists/forums that there is a
FD leak in anaconda that people believe causes this problem with more
complicated FDISK setup's and so I wish to try updating Anaconda so
I can install FC4 on this system.
I would have thought that there should be a simple way of updating the
installer for Fedora as this component would cause a lot of issues
with different hardware/configuration environments ?
Is there any howto's to do this ?
Cheers
Terry

Based on the error message, you may have a hardware or driver issue.
For debugring it, I would poke around on tty2 during the install. Look
through the dmesg and and the anaconda log. Use fdisk and create some
partitions, and mkfs and mount them under tmp.
I've seen that error message before but I can't remember what the issue
was... You could try grepping through the anaconda source to see where the
message is generated.
Updating anaconda is a huge pain to be honest...

Hi,
Is there some information somewhere on how to update the anaconder
installer for FC4 ?
I have an FC4 tree on a server and am tring to install FC4 on another
system
using NFS.
There appears to be a bug in the stock FC4 anaconda installer
"Error informing kernel about modification to partition ..." and so I am
tring to update
the Anaconda installer to see if that fixes my problem.
I assume I can install the updated anaconda and anaconda-runtime RPM's on
the server
and execute some commands to generate the new stage 2 images in
Fedora/base ?
Cheers
