external USB cdrom

Hi,
         Does the loader support booting from an external USB cdrom ?
When I tried getting to rescue mode, the kernel came up, then 
the loader complained that it could not load the 
rescue image from the cdrom. Ctrl-Alt-F3 says that mountStage2 fails.

Are there any known issues with USB cdrom drives ?
