Is there an easy way to update the installer with the latest kernel?
I tried got it working partially. ie: the bootup kernel was the latest
kernel, but it failed on stage 2.
Is buildinstall supposed to be able to upgrade the installer with the
latest kernel?

Yes. Except for sometimes it breaks.
Also, will this improve hardware detection during installs?
