If you follow http://www.linuxjournal.com/article.php?sid=6473 and use the
tools there you CAN get by without using buildinstall.

Another handy tool I used are the kickstart-tools
http://kickstart-tools.sourceforge.net/

If you are getting into changing the anaconda source itself you will need to
go all the way and do buildinstall.
