However if you remove packages then it and don't get errors- there could be errors at runtime; something along the lines of a redhat-config-* tools trying to read a .png that was in provided by the package you removed- resulting in a traceback (not sure if this does exist). I've only included printconf within my cut down version of Linux- so for me at least it was safe to remove all the redhat-config utilities.
