I just tried to enter the same commands on VT2, by chrooting to
/mnt/sysimage and running grub. When I type in the long line, it wraps
at grub.conf. I enter this (on one line):
grub> install /boot/grub/stage1 d (hd0) /boot/grub/stage2 p (hd0,0/boot/grub
and as soon as I hit the / key, it wraps and shows this:
<oot/grub/
If I finish the command, I get
Error 1: Filename must be either an absolute pathname or blocklist
I tried it again, but very slowly near the final /, and it showed this:
<boot/grub/
so I finished it off, and then it worked.!?
