Subject: Boot failure with CD set based on kernel 2.4.18-5

Hi!
I've built my own Redhat 7.3 CD set with updated rpm packages. But
there's
a wierd problem with the lastest one I've done (based on the 2.4.18-5
kernel) - when the buildinstall script is used during the build process.
The
build-process doesn't report any errors, and the CD images are created
without problems. The installation process from CD completes without
problems, but when trying to start afterwards, the PC only writes
GRUB
on the monitor - and nothing more happens. Stepping all kernel-modules
back
to 2.4.18-4 and running the buildinstall script during the process (to
create images based on kernel 2.4.18-4) - then everything works ok.
Any idea what the problem could be ??
Regards,
/Brian
I have built my own updated RedHat7.3 cd successfully. No problem at all.
Make sure that your RPMs all come from original RedHat7.3 release, then
carefully replace the bad ones with the updated ones listed in RedHat7.3
errara.
Maybe there's something wrong with your grub package, check it. Or you can
run rescue mode to try lilo.
I don't think that something is wrong with 2.4.18-5.
