anaconda -r option

I am a little confused about the -r option.

The way I understood the -r option to work is that it is for a directory 
that anaconda will install everything into.  If this is correct, then 
why do I have to partition the drives?  I still get the disk druid 
screen.  What do I do at this screen?  What am I missing?
