I was messing around with my two Schiits on the old beater Core Duo mentioned below this morning and I learned something interesting (at least I think it's interesting):

I have two older Schiit USB DACs - a Fulla original and a Fulla 2 - that show different available rates on two different machines running the same kernel.

On my late-model AMD 3800 I see:

Rates: 44100, 48000, 88200, 96000

Whereas in my old beater Core Duo I see:

Rates: 44100, 48000

Both machines are running Ubuntu 21.10 standard kernel 5.13.0-21-generic.

It's been awhile (ie certainly before the Ubuntu 21.10 upgrade) since I've tried either DAC on the old beater Core Duo, but I definitely don't remember having difficulties with 96KHz sample rates on that machine in the past

The problem with only seeing 44100 and 48000 seems to be related to the USB port on the computer.  On the top front of the computer there are two USB ports, side by side.  One only gives 44100 and 48000 and when connected I see the following message stream in syslog:

Note that a lot of unhappy-sounding messages seen on the left port are not seen on the right, such as the complaint about the cable, the device descriptor read errors and so on.

So I guess I am concluding that either there is a hardware fault in the right port or cabling or perhaps it's some kind of a lower-speed connection.

Anyway, seems that I can resolve this matter just by plugging into the leftmost port.
