USB audio microphone not working on Kingston Hyperx Amp soundcard

I just purchased a Kingston HyperX Amp USB soundcard[1]. The microphone input
does not work correctly in Alsa, though it is listed as a capture device.

$ arecord -l
<snip>
card 1: Amp [HyperX Amp], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
<snip>

When I try to choose it with alsamixer I get an error:

$ alsamixer -c 1
cannot load mixer controls: Invalid argument

This is on Debian Sid with Linux 5.4
$ uname -a
Linux fireball 5.4.0-trunk-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.4.2-1~exp1
(2019-12-05) x86_64 GNU/Linux

$ lsusb
<snip>
Bus 001 Device 010: ID 0951:16d8 Kingston Technology HyperX Amp
<snip>

I am not sure how to debug the problem further, but I would appreciate any
assistance.

Thanks, Jesse
