As the TEAC device contains a DAC, I would imagine it would give better quality if it received digital data? The other output option is Digital Stereo (IEC958) but when I select that there is only silence. I am aware that there are many layers involved, eg. alsa -> pulseaudio -> mpd, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd be grateful.
