Hello, I installed 3 identical PCI soundcards in a PC which also has your onboard sound card. Running lspci -vmm I can see all 4 soundcards: ... Slot: 00:1f.5 Class: Multimedia audio controller Vendor: Intel Corporation Device: 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller SVendor: IBM SDevice: Device 02c7 Rev: 02 Slot: 03:00.0 Class: Multimedia audio controller Vendor: Avance Logic Inc. Device: ALS4000 Audio Chipset SVendor: Avance Logic Inc. SDevice: ALS4000 Audio Chipset Slot: 03:01.0 Class: Multimedia audio controller Vendor: Avance Logic Inc. Device: ALS4000 Audio Chipset SVendor: Avance Logic Inc. SDevice: ALS4000 Audio Chipset Slot: 03:02.0 Class: Multimedia audio controller Vendor: Avance Logic Inc. Device: ALS4000 Audio Chipset SVendor: Avance Logic Inc. SDevice: ALS4000 Audio Chipset ... But aplay -l shows only 3 soundcards, just the soundcard of the third slot is not shown: **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: ICH5 [Intel ICH5], device 0: Intel ICH [Intel ICH5] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: ICH5 [Intel ICH5], device 4: Intel ICH - IEC958 [Intel ICH5 - IEC958] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: ALS4000 [Avance Logic ALS4000], device 0: ALS4000 DSP [] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 2: ALS4000_1 [Avance Logic ALS4000], device 0: ALS4000 DSP [] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 The same with cat /proc/asound/cards: 0 [ICH5 ]: ICH4 - Intel ICH5 Intel ICH5 with AD1981B at irq 17 1 [ALS4000 ]: ALS4000 - Avance Logic ALS4000 Avance Logic ALS4000 at 0x2000, irq 21 2 [ALS4000_1 ]: ALS4000 - Avance Logic ALS4000 Avance Logic ALS4000 at 0x2080, irq 22 Sometime 4 soundcards were shown: cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [ICH5 ]: ICH4 - Intel ICH5 Intel ICH5 with AD1981B at irq 17 1 [ALS4000 ]: ALS4000 - Avance Logic ALS4000 Avance Logic ALS4000 at 0x2000, irq 21 2 [ALS4000_1 ]: ALS4000 - Avance Logic ALS4000 Avance Logic ALS4000 at 0x2080, irq 22 3 [ALS4000_2 ]: ALS4000 - Avance Logic ALS4000 Avance Logic ALS4000 at 0x2400, irq 17 But then the problem reoccurred ... Is it correct that some soundcards have the same irq (onboard and third slot, irq 17) ?. After, with udev rules I have given different names to each soundcard, but it is not a solution. I would appreciate help on this matter. José Luis ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ What NetFlow Analyzer can do for you?
