No HDMI output on Toshiba laptop

Hi!

I have a new Acer Aspire V3 773G laptop. When I try to connect the HDMI output to my receiver I don’t get any audio output. It doesn’t seem that my receiver gets any audio data because it doesn’t give any status information. Is there a HDMI connect status as soon as the cable is plugged in? Or is the connection „dead” until audio/video is played?

Here are some information:

00:03.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor HD Audio Controller (rev 06)

I tried it with all plughw HDMI PCMs that aplay -L showed. If I use pulseaudio I have three stereo HDMI profiles and three 5.1 surround HDMI profiles. None of them give any sound.

What did I miss?

Shade and sweet water!
