With Debian Squeeze and Ubuntu Lucid Lxde Alsa function very well, but don't with Ubuntu Trusty Lxde with kernel 3.13.xx This Ubuntu Trusty is installed from minimal.iso: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/mini.iso The hardware is: 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.6 Modem: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Modem Controller (rev 03) I Ask you what the problem could be?
