Hi List, My mainboard has an integrated ALC887-VD chipset and the audio that it produces is extremely choppy out of the box on Linux Mint 17 Qiana. After I shut down pulseaudio and played around with kernel module parameters I figured that `modprobe snd-hda-intel position_fix=1` has somewhat improved my situation. It made playback quite smooth with occasional crackling sounds. Unfortunately, it only worked with some movie players like mplayer and totem and failed to work with games. I uploaded my ALSA information to http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=18ae83af44d8e0d5732f9792e2eb0af37b9c5c36 By the way, is ALSA support dead? The discontinued ALSA bugtracker at https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/bugtrackers/alsa-mantis and the dead https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug link referenced from http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Main_Page doesn't instill much hope.
