Right, that should be same as with the 3.2 kernel.

I guess your sound problem is related to the auto-parser work introduced
in kernel 3.4, but I don't really see how.

Could you post the alsa-info output from a working set-up with a 3.2
kernel and alsa-info from a non-working newer kernel with no model
specified?
