Trident USB TvBox has no sound!

Hello list.

Can I make an application expecting oss work with alsa? I have alsa-oss
1.0.25-5.1.1 installed.

Recently I picked up a used usb tuner box (TvBox). The video works, but
so far no sound. Should I have sound if the TvBox audio is working
correctly.

qv4l2 is installed and motv. Sometimes I see this error "oss: open
/dev/dsp: No such file or directory"

motv sees the TvBox like this:

frank[5026] motv -hwscan
This is motv-3.102, running on Linux/x86_64 (3.7.10-1.16-desktop)
looking for available devices
port 95-110
     type : Xvideo, image scaler
     name : Intel(R) Textured Video

/dev/video0: OK [ -device /dev/video0 ]
     type : libv4l
     name : Trident TVMaster TM5600/6000/60
     flags: capture tuner

This looks to me like alsa is working. Maybe "default" has to be defined.

Some other info:

/dev/video0
root[502] l /dev/dsp
ls: cannot access /dev/dsp: No such file or directory

My 12.3-64 installs the tm600 module for the TvBox.
