hissing cracking sounds: sony vaio x

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I'm using debian squeeze (stable 6.0) on a sony vaio x laptop.

alsamixer shows the sound HW as: Card: HDA Intel MID, Chipset: Realtek ALC262

Squeeze originally came with Alsa 1.0.21 and I've upgraded Alsa to 1.0.23 following:
installing alsa-source
su -c 'm-a update && m-a prepare'
su -c 'm-a a-i -t alsa-source'

The problem Im having is that often the speaker would produce a cracking/hissing sound instead of the "normal" sound its supposed to produce. This seems to happen randomly, but more often when there is a continuous stream of sounds, for example,when playing youtube videos.

The speaker works flawlessly under Windows 7, so its not a HW issue.

Any suggestions how to solve this?.

TIA
