problem with new 1.0.25 build on Ubuntu Lucid

Hi, guys

I'm on Ubuntu Lucid, 2.6.32-45-generic, had audio working up until I pursued new alsa driver a couple of days ago.

I compiled and installed 1.025, and now i have no sound.

My audio hardware is: 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller

and in every kernel module subdirectory I have the "snd-hda-intel.ko"

2.6.32-42-generic/kernel/sound/pci/hda/snd-hda-intel.ko
2.6.32-43-generic/kernel/sound/pci/hda/snd-hda-intel.ko
2.6.32-44-generic/kernel/sound/pci/hda/snd-hda-intel.ko
2.6.32-45-generic/kernel/sound/pci/hda/snd-hda-intel.ko

EXCEPT IN THE CURRENT KERNEL MODULE ! -- 2.6.32-45-generic

I think I lost the file in the course of trying to upgrade my alsa, but then why didn't my new compile/install put a "snd-hda-intel.ko" kernel module among my most current modules?

So, obviously, this is the FIRST (though maybe not the only) reason I have no sound now.

I compiled the drivers with this configuration:

./configure --with-cards=hda_intel,hrtimer,aloop --with-sequencer=yes

AFAICT, the "hda_intel" parameter should force it to produce the "snd-hda-intel.ko" file (?). Well, mine is missing, as I said.

-------------------------------

The other possible challenge I am facing is the loopback + jack configuration, which was the primary reason I embarked on this upgrade.

I have also compiled most of the concomitant packages...

alsa-firmware-1.0.25.tar.bz2
alsa-lib-1.0.25.tar.bz2
alsa-tools-1.0.25.tar.bz2
alsa-utils-1.0.25.tar.bz2

(Except the "alsa-tools-1.0.25/qlo10k1" subdirectory, which couldn't find my QT directory)

------------------------------

So: upon boot, the "snd" module is not inserted; there are no modules with "snd" in them. When I manually insert "snd" and "snd-aloop", I succeed, but the only thing alsamixer shows is the Loopback device (-c0), there is no "-c1"

----------------------------

By the way I tried to revert to official alsa packages and failed miserably; thus, there seems to be no turning back

Please help!

thanks.

Andrew
