Can not open /dev/sequencer

Dear community,
I have the following problem:
I want to use the software rumor (which can be used do create midi-code via midi-keyboard).
When I type 
> rumor --oss
I get 
> Can not open /dev/sequencer
When I just type rumor
I get 
> ALSA port connection error; do it manually using `aconnect'
and it doesn't react von midi-input.
What can I do now to get it working?
