Is there a separate Windows driver for this device, or does it work with
Windows' generic built-in driver?

No, it doesn't work with win generic drivers.There are two different drivers available, one made by Behringer and a 3rd party made by ASIO4ALL. You can find them here: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/BCD3000.aspx
