Thank you.  Unfortunately, the same thing happens when I use JACK.  With alsamixer's first capture item enabled, I can record to Ardour.  However, with alsamixer's second capture item enabled, I cannot.  

Also, the qjackctl's Connections window shows only 2 capture ports (left and right stereo?), regardless of how many of the capture items I enable in alsamixer.
