Hi guys, I am trying to get my FastTrack Pro to work with 48Khz and 24bits, but when I try to start jackd I get the following: # 221:58:02.325 /usr/bin/jackd -dalsa -r48000 -p1024 -n2 -D -Chw:5,1 -Phw:5,0 # jackd 0.118.0 # Copyright 2001-2009 Paul Davis, Stephane Letz, Jack O'Quinn, Torben Hohn and others. # jackd comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY # This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it # under certain conditions; see the file COPYING for details # Memory locking is unlimited - this is dangerous. You should probably alter the line: # @audio - memlock unlimited # in your /etc/limits.conf to read: # @audio - memlock 3039993 # JACK compiled with System V SHM support. # 21:58:02.332 JACK was started with PID=12204. # loading driver .. # apparent rate = 48000 # creating alsa driver ... hw:5,0|hw:5,1|1024|2|48000|0|0|nomon|swmeter|-|32bit # control device hw:5 # configuring for 48000Hz, period = 1024 frames (21.3 ms), buffer = 2 periods # ALSA: final selected sample format for capture: 16bit little-endian # ALSA: use 2 periods for capture # ALSA: final selected sample format for playback: 16bit little-endian # ALSA: use 2 periods for playback # playback and capture sample rates do not match (44100 vs. 48000) # 21:58:04.402 JACK connection change. I heard that actually one cannot have more than 44100 and 16 bits, but that there was a patch for fixing that (http://alsa.opensrc.org/M-Audio_FastTrack_Pro). I am not sure if this patch is already implemented into my kernel, but trying to load snd-usb-audio with the given parameters return no error message. Here some info: #perjanus ~ $ uname -r # 2.6.36-zen1 #perjanus ~ $ modprobe -r snd-usb-audio #perjanus ~ $ modprobe snd-usb-audio vid=0x763 pid=0x2012 device_setup=0x9 index=5 enable=1 #perjanus ~ $ Is this patch already in my kernel? If its not, where can I find it? (the link asks me for username and pass which I dont have). In the IRC channel someone asked me to try to use aplay -DhwX,Y to see what is the format given. No matter what interface I use (if its my onboard soundcard or the usb FastTrack) I get the following message: # perjanus ~ $ aplay -Dhw:5 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/*.wav # Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono # aplay: set_params:1059: Channels count non available whereas using plughw (for any audio interface) works just fine. When I tried to use a 24bits wav file I got: # perjanus ~ $ aplay -Dhw:5 /Lago/Downloads/sample-48khz-24b.wav # Playing WAVE '/home/holysword/sample-48khz-24b.wav' : Signed 24 bit Little Endian in 3bytes, Rate 48000 Hz, Stereo # aplay: set_params:1053: Sample format non available #Available formats: #- S16_LE which does not look very good to me!
