I encounter a problem. My sound volume adjustment and alsamixer works ok (I can change sound level without a problem) and I can see modules loaded in lsmod snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_hda_intel snd_hda_codec Also, lspci shows 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller However, I can not hear any sound when mplayer plays video. In /var/log/syslog contains lines saying pulseaudio[2362]: alsa-sink.c: ALSA woke us up to write new data to the device, but there was actually nothing to write! pulseaudio[2362]: alsa-sink.c: Most likely this is a bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_hda_intel'. Please report this issue to the ALSA developers. pulseaudio[2362]: alsa-sink.c: We were woken up with POLLOUT set -- however a subsequent snd_pcm_avail() returned 0 or another value < min_avail. pulseaudio[2362]: alsa-sink.c: Error opening PCM device front:0: Device or resource busy In var/log/messages, some lines display pulseaudio[2410]: sink-input.c: Failed to create sink input: too many inputs per sink But these messages go away after unchecking pulseaudio related setting in gnome System -> Preferences -> Startup Application And there is still no sound can be heard. What might be the root cause? Or where to check what might go wrong? I appreciate any suggestion.
