Choppy sound SPDIF CM6206 (CM106)

Hi.
I've just tried out the SPDIF output on a usb sound box with the CM6206
chip, and the sound seem to have a choppy background noise.
I've tried both the 2.6.35-22-generic and 2.6.32-24-generic kernels with
alsa v1.0.23 just to check if it could be the kernel, but same result in both.

I'm using default ubuntu 10.04 64-bit.

In the pulseaudio mixer the sound card is recognized as CM106 Like. I don't
know if this may be the problem, or if CM106-driver is a generic one, that
should also match the CM6206.

The choppy noises is gone when tested in windows xp. Noises is the same in
mplayer, totem, rhythembox, and vlc.

Anyone have any ideas?
