Solved, seems not to be a alsa issue. 

I downgraded the NVIDIA driver again (xorg)  and now its running fine? Did I understand this right?

working: nvidia-drivers-256.44
Not working: nvidia-drivers-256.53

thats pretty scary, as now there is mire than one point to look for the error. I hate try and error, as this involved kernel recompile every time :-(
