I have a HP DV5 101? with nVidia GeForce 9200M GS and audio Intel Corporation 82801, with alsa v1.0.22 and alsa-driver v1.0.22.1, compiled from source, and the last nVidia driver (195.36.15)
All notebook audio works perfect, great sound... but, no HDMI output.
I tried all I found in internet, recompiled all alsa from source, added so many combinations of options in alsa-base.conf... and not HDMI sound.
The last options was:
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
And this the aplay output:
$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****

In xfce4-mixer, appears 2 "audio cards":
HDA Intel (Alsa mixer and Nvidia MCP78 HDMI ( OSS Mixer )
So I have 2 Master
But in alsamixer appears: Card: HDA Intel, Chip Nvidia MCP78 HDMI
No errors, linked to any audio device, appears in dmesg , I read all output from dmesg ... :\
My kernel is 2.6.31.4.xMob-s8, and this the modules, of snd, running : http://pastebin.com/q9NbZRYK
My TV is working with HDMI, I tried other notebook, with windows... , and it works.
So.. what I have to do now? I don't know what more to try....
Thanks
