From `lspci`

00:08.0 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP79 High Definition Audio (rev b1)
                Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device 2a95
Flags: bus master, 66MHz, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 177
                Memory at fae78000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 2
Kernel driver in use: HDA Intel
                Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel

1. Please send the output of `alsa-info.sh` [1].
2. Does `alsamixer` show anything?
3. Did you try some live distribution to rule out a distribution or
configuration problem?

Thanks,

Paul
