audio delay issues

Hi all,

Have tried searching the archives a bit for this, but to no avail.
Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction.
I recently got audio-over-HDMI working on my ION-based HTPC. Was quite
a PITA actually (debian = woefully outdated).
But the 1st second or so of sound is always missing. On TV shows and
movies this second is rarely important, but in music it is vital!
I suspect (and have seen some forum posts with similar theories) that
my TV is shutting off the speakers or speaker amp when it doesn't
receive a signal, and it takes a second to 'wake up' after I start
playing things.

Since noone here can obviously fix my tv, is there perhaps a
workaround? A way to start the audio signal a second early, or always
keep it on?
Ideas?

Thanks!

D
