I have a Dell Precision M90 laptop with Gentoo Linux installed and with a Dell Dport Docking station (this: http://www.laptoppartsshop.com/dell-precision-m90-laptop-parts/dell-d-port-port-replicator-with-130w-ac-adapter-p50201.html). I have a windows partition on this laptop and I get digital output (5.1) on windows using this SPDIF port, so I know it's not a hardware issue. Things I tried: * Using either kernel drivers (latest attempt with 2.6.31-r6), using gentoo package's drivers (latest: 1.0.22.1) and the “development” drivers from GIT. * Configuring modprobe of the hda-intel module to use the option “model=dell-m23” (and tried other models..., even tried model=auto). I tried the model option with kernel and non-kernel drivers. * Different .asoundrc files to try to force the output through the digital channel of the soundcard. But nothing worked... Any ideas what I could try next?
