Since your result is not something that other people see, it is also possible that you have a bad motherboard-- eg bad connectors on the board contact, bad memory, etc. You do not say what kind of computer, or motherboard you have (it must be fairly old to have ISA motherboard slots). You also do not say which drivers you are using. Also make sure that you are NOT running pulseaudio.
