Accidentally missing output channel

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,

I have identical hardwares (IBM AnyPlace Kiosks), their dmidecode output
differs only in a serial number. Both are IBM AnyPlace Kiosks. One of
them accidentally does not show Headphone as a separate output channel.
In alsamixer, there's no column for it and headphones are silent. There
are seldom boots when the channel appears and the output works.

The other kiosks are ok. The messages at boot do not show any
significant difference.

The diff of two /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 is here:
http://dpaste.org/boy3/
Suspicious is the missing "HP" on the line "Pin-ctls: 0xc0: OUT HP"

# cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [VT82xx ]: HDA-Intel - HDA VIA VT82xx
    HDA VIA VT82xx at 0xcfffc000 irq 17

# cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.27.8 (root@darkstar) (gcc version 4.2.4) #1 SMP Sun
Dec 7 08:30:31

I also noticed according to /proc/asound/card0/oss_mixer, Headphone is
considered "ALTPCM" on the kiosk where it works ok.

Is there any way I can debug it? If there is anyone willing to help,
what other info can I give?

Thank you very much,

Vlada Macek
