Thanks for the reply.  Nvidia drivers are up-to-date, yes.  Same
drivers that are working in my other box.  Also, I don't have
asound.conf anywhere on both the system box I'm trying to get working,
or the box that already works.  I did read some stuff about
asound.conf in my searching but everything pointed to I shouldn't need
one.  I _do_ get sound from the green 1/8" analog plug on the back my
mainboard, it's only the spdif that isn't working.  I also wasn't sure
how to create a correct one for my hardware so hopefully if this could
be the problem and someone has it working, they'll post theirs up as a
reference/template.  I'd hate to have to put this mainboard in the
closet and buy something I know works properly.
