Alsa 1.0.18a and ALI M5451 AC'97 Problem

I am just a newbie and try to compile kernel 2.6.29.1 with built-in ALSA 1.0.18a on Compaq Presario 2500 series with ALI M5451 sound card chipset. The ALSA driver failed to initialize.
I have "AC'97 0 does not respond - RESET" problem.

I try to use the above patch but failed: malformed.

How to solve this problem?
How to get the correct patch?

I try to use ALSA 1.0.19, but ./configure complained that the Kernel already have built-in ALSA. 
Can I use ALSA 1.0.19 with kernel 2.6.29.1?
