Hallo, There is a problem, when trying to use Guillemot Maxi Sound Home 64 Studio - I mean: I can operate all the controls offered by ALSA, I can even record the sound (tried to record something from microphone) - but I can't hear anything at all, like there were no cables connected to speakers. The card itself is, of course, fully operational (checked it from within FreeDOS), it has ES1868F chip on the board. Some more info: #v+ # dmesg | grep -i 18 pci 0000:00:0a.0: reg 18 io port: [0xdc00-0xdc07] pci 0000:01:00.0: reg 18 32bit mmio: [0xf5000000-0xf500ffff] bttv0: i2c: checking for MSP34xx @ 0x80... <6>es18xx 01:01.00: activated es18xx 01:01.01: activated ide-gd driver 1.18 #v- #v+ # cat /sys/bus/pnp/devices/00:*/id PNP0c01 PNP0a03 PNP0c02 PNP0200 PNP0b00 PNP0800 PNP0c04 PNP0700 PNP0501 PNP0f13 PNP0303 #v- (Pay attention: no ESS1868 nor anything like this) #v+ # lsmod | grep -i snd snd_pcm_oss 31840 0 snd_mixer_oss 12128 1 snd_pcm_oss snd_es18xx 25012 0 snd_pcm 60296 2 snd_pcm_oss,snd_es18xx snd_page_alloc 8008 1 snd_pcm snd_opl3_lib 8800 1 snd_es18xx snd_timer 16612 2 snd_pcm,snd_opl3_lib snd_hwdep 6116 1 snd_opl3_lib snd_mpu401_uart 5856 1 snd_es18xx snd_rawmidi 17856 1 snd_mpu401_uart snd_seq_device 6316 2 snd_opl3_lib,snd_rawmidi snd 44436 10 snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_es18xx,snd_pcm,snd_opl3_lib,snd_timer,snd_hwdep,snd_mpu401_uart,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device soundcore 5892 1 snd #v- #v+ root@Trurl~# cat /proc/interrupts [..] 7: 146 XT-PIC-XT ES18xx [..] #v- #v+ # cat /proc/ioports [..] 0240-024f : ES18xx 0295-0296 : pnp 00:02 0300-0301 : MPU401 UART 0376-0376 : 0000:00:07.1 0376-0376 : piix 0388-0389 : OPL2/3 (left) 038a-038b : OPL2/3 (right) [..] 0800-0807 : ES18xx - CTRL 0a79-0a79 : isapnp write [..] #v- #v+ # cat /proc/dma 1: ES18xx DMA 1 3: ES18xx DMA 2 4: cascade #v- It's ALSA package bundled with 2.6.28.1 kernel. From the application's side (like mp3blaster, record, bmp or the like) all seems to be fully operational, I can use alsamixer or aumixer to change the settings - but the speakers are still silent. And one more detail: the card cannot be detected by alsaconf (ALSA-utils 1.0.14).
