I presume you did the depmiod step before this?

Perhaps it didn't pick up on the right kernel headers. I think
you said you use Ubuntu so I'm not quite sure what to suggest
with that distro.

Hopefully someone who uses Ubuntu can offer a suggestion about
those symbols. At least you got to the point of providing exact
errors that someone may know about.
