I have the same Intel HDA Audio, which only currently works for Headphones but not S/PDIF (optical or analog). My audio device is (lspci): 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller I have had no luck getting this to work with ALSA 1.0.18. Nothing I have found in google so far has made any change. The computer isn't even outputting the "red light". So I think Intel HDA Audio is still aways away.
