model=laptop doesn't help.

Hi!
I have also problem with my HP530 (ICH9 Family Also).
Try this:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
at the end you add:
options snd-hda-intel model=laptop

Save changes.
And then you turn off computer and start. (Not restart but power off).
Sometime you need to write another word (not laptop, but at the begging try this).

I have no sound on my new notebook HP Pavilion dv7-1070eg.

 

I use alsa 1.0.18 and Linux 2.6.28rc3 !

 

lspci shows:

 

00:05.0 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP61 High Definition Audio (rev a2)

 

Audio Device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio

 

Controller

 

Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device 30f4

 

 

alsamixer shows the sound device as

 

HDA Intel Generic 10de ID6
