Hi,
I'm using aloop in a box without any soundcard to loop wave files to
an input device in skype. The audio works, but crackles and pops a
lot. Yesterday when i set it up i could play a 44.1/16/stereo wave
file through it without problems, but today that didn't work and i got
the "set_params:909: Channels count non available" error.
Switching to plughw:0 from hw:0 fixed that, but instead i get crackles
and pops, so the audio is quite hard to listen to.
I play files with:
aplay -D plughw:0 file.wav
Skype uses aloopin as input device which is defined like this
in .asoundrc:
pcm.aloopin {
type hw
card 0
device 1
subdevice 0
}
ctl.aloopin {
type hw
card 0
device 1
subdevice 0
}
Skype also uses plughw:1 as output devices to prevent conflicts with
aplay
Thanks
The strange thing is that it doesn't segfaults. Just try the null
module (I think it's snd_null) and redirect skype's output there.
Another thing, ensure that skype is reading the output before using aplay, and just in case try this: aplay -D plughw:0,0 file.wav
This didn't seem to do it.. the sound is still messed up :(
Any other idea(s)?
