Hi list, I want to use a softphone on my linux box. I have jacks on the front and on the back. I found out, that my card does not support splitting the channels, so I already figured out, dshare could help me. aplay -L shows me the following: PCM list: hw { @args.0 CARD @args.1 DEV @args.2 SUBDEV @args.CARD { type string default { @func getenv vars { 0 ALSA_PCM_CARD 1 ALSA_CARD } default { @func refer name 'defaults.pcm.card' } } } @args.DEV { type integer default { @func igetenv vars { 0 ALSA_PCM_DEVICE } default { @func refer name 'defaults.pcm.device' } } } @args.SUBDEV { type integer default { @func refer name 'defaults.pcm.subdevice' } } type hw card $CARD device $DEV subdevice $SUBDEV } plughw { @args.0 CARD @args.1 DEV @args.2 SUBDEV @args.CARD { type string default { @func getenv vars { 0 ALSA_PCM_CARD 1 ALSA_CARD } default { @func refer name 'defaults.pcm.card' } } } @args.DEV { type integer default { @func igetenv vars { 0 ALSA_PCM_DEVICE } default { @func refer name 'defaults.pcm.device' } } } @args.SUBDEV { type integer default { @func refer name 'defaults.pcm.subdevice' } } type plug slave.pcm { type hw card $CARD device $DEV subdevice $SUBDEV } } plug { @args.0 SLAVE @args.SLAVE { type string } type plug slave.pcm $SLAVE } shm { @args.0 SOCKET @args.1 PCM @args.SOCKET { type string } @args.PCM { type string } type shm server $SOCKET pcm $PCM } tee { @args.0 SLAVE @args.1 FILE @args.2 FORMAT @args.SLAVE { type string } @args.FILE { type string } @args.FORMAT { type string default raw } type file slave.pcm $SLAVE file $FILE format $FORMAT } file { @args.0 FILE @args.1 FORMAT @args.FILE { type string } @args.FORMAT { type string default raw } type file slave.pcm null file $FILE format $FORMAT } null { type null } cards 'cards.pcm' front 'cards.pcm.front' rear 'cards.pcm.rear' center_lfe 'cards.pcm.center_lfe' side 'cards.pcm.side' surround40 'cards.pcm.surround40' surround41 'cards.pcm.surround41' surround50 'cards.pcm.surround50' surround51 'cards.pcm.surround51' surround71 'cards.pcm.surround71' iec958 'cards.pcm.iec958' spdif 'cards.pcm.iec958' modem 'cards.pcm.modem' phoneline 'cards.pcm.phoneline' default 'cards.pcm.default' dmix 'cards.pcm.dmix' dsnoop 'cards.pcm.dsnoop amixer shows me the following: Simple mixer control 'Headphone',0 Capabilities: pvolume pswitch Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Playback 0 - 64 Mono: Front Left: Playback 64 [100%] [on] Front Right: Playback 64 [100%] [on] Simple mixer control 'PCM',0 Capabilities: pvolume Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Playback 0 - 255 Mono: Front Left: Playback 255 [100%] Front Right: Playback 255 [100%] Simple mixer control 'Front',0 Capabilities: pvolume pswitch Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Playback 0 - 64 Mono: Front Left: Playback 64 [100%] [on] Front Right: Playback 64 [100%] [on] Simple mixer control 'Front Mic',0 Capabilities: pvolume pswitch Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Playback 0 - 65 Mono: Front Left: Playback 65 [100%] [on] Front Right: Playback 65 [100%] [on] Simple mixer control 'Line',0 Capabilities: pvolume pswitch Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Playback 0 - 65 Mono: Front Left: Playback 0 [0%] [on] Front Right: Playback 0 [0%] [on] Simple mixer control 'Mic',0 Capabilities: pvolume pswitch Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Playback 0 - 65 Mono: Front Left: Playback 65 [100%] [on] Front Right: Playback 65 [100%] [on] Simple mixer control 'Capture',0 Capabilities: cvolume cswitch Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Capture 0 - 35 Front Left: Capture 35 [100%] [on] Front Right: Capture 35 [100%] [on] Simple mixer control 'Capture',1 Capabilities: cvolume cswitch Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Capture 0 - 35 Front Left: Capture 35 [100%] [on] Front Right: Capture 35 [100%] [on] Simple mixer control 'Input Source',0 Capabilities: enum Items: 'Mic' 'Front Mic' 'Line' Item0: 'Front Mic' Simple mixer control 'Input Source',1 Capabilities: enum Items: 'Mic' 'Front Mic' 'Line' Item0: 'Front Mic' I tried to follow this example from the alsa wiki: http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/Dshare So I have this in my .asoundrc: pcm_slave.66_slave { pcm "hw:0" channels 4 rate 44100 buffer_size 256 period_size 128 } pcm.66ch12_dshare { type dshare ipc_key 18273645 slave 66_slave bindings.0 0 bindings.1 1 } pcm.66ch34_dshare { type dshare ipc_key 18273646 slave 66_slave bindings.0 2 bindings.1 3 } pcm.66ch12 { type plug slave.pcm "66ch12_dshare" } but when I now try to use the device with aplay, I get the following error message: aplay -D 66ch12 /usr/share/supertux/sounds/kick.wav ALSA lib pcm_direct.c:1439:(_snd_pcm_direct_get_slave_ipc_offset) Unknown slave PCM 66_slave aplay: main:550: audio open error: No such file or directory In case that matters, I use alsa-1.0.13 on openSUSE 10.2. I guess its only a small piece that I did wrong, but I've no idea, what. Any hint would be greatly appreciated. kind regards Sebastian ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsored by: SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards: VOTE NOW!
